NYS USBC Youth Scholarship Opportunity

Scholarship Sponsored by New York State Bowling Congress

Value: $4,000.00
Awards Available: 7

Description The New York State USBC scholarship supports graduating high school seniors (Class of 2026) who have been accepted to a postsecondary program — college, university, vocational, or technical school. It is intended for youth bowlers who participate in USBC Youth–certified leagues in New York and plan to continue their education. The award recognizes both academic/career intentions and active participation in sanctioned youth bowling programs.

  • Purpose: Financial support for Class of 2026 students continuing to higher education
  • Eligible institutions: College, university, vocational, or technical schools
  • Target group: New York youth bowlers in USBC-certified leagues

Eligibility Applicants must meet specific membership and enrollment conditions to qualify for the scholarship. Candidates must be graduating seniors (Class of 2026) who have already been accepted as candidates by a school of higher education. In addition, applicants must be members in good standing of a USBC Youth–certified league in New York for the current season and must complete the required application materials.

  • Graduating seniors (Class of 2026) accepted to higher education
  • Active member of a USBC Youth–certified league in New York
  • Membership must be in good standing for the current season
  • Complete and submit the scholarship application

Award Value For the 2025–26 season, the association will award up to seven scholarships to qualified high school seniors. Exact award amounts are determined by the scholarship committee and may vary; the program emphasizes multiple recipients rather than a single large award. Specific dollar amounts are listed with the scholarship details online or provided by the committee when awards are announced.

  • Number of scholarships: up to 7 for 2025–26
  • Award amounts: set by the scholarship committee (see online details)
  • Multiple recipients prioritized over a single award

Application Process Applications are completed and submitted online through the scholarship portal. Applicants must fill out the form in full, review the Final Steps instructions, and click “Submit” to send their application; incomplete applications risk disqualification. After submission, applicants must ensure required third-party documents are sent by the appropriate school and youth program officials.

  • Complete the online application in full
  • Review Final Steps before submitting
  • Incomplete submissions may be disqualified

Required Documents Several documents must be provided by school and youth officials rather than the applicant. A teacher, guidance counselor, or coach (not a family member) must write a letter of recommendation. You must download and print two forms: the School Official/Counselor’s Evaluation & Data Sheet (to be completed and mailed by the school official with the transcript and recommendation) and the Youth Official Evaluation Sheet (to be completed and mailed by the youth program coordinator with the league standing sheet).

  • Recommendation: teacher, guidance counselor, or coach (not family)
  • School Official/Counselor’s Evaluation & Data Sheet: completed and mailed with transcript and recommendation
  • Youth Official Evaluation Sheet: completed and mailed with league standing sheet

Submission & Deadlines The completed application and all supporting materials must be submitted by the stated deadline and filed with the chairperson of the scholarship committee. The applicant submits the online form; the school official and youth program coordinator must mail their completed forms and supporting documents directly to the committee. Check the scholarship webpage or committee communications for the exact deadline and mailing address.

  • Submit online application before the deadline
  • School and youth officials must mail their completed forms to the scholarship committee
  • Applications must be filed with the scholarship committee chairperson

If an award is declined, refused, or a grantee becomes ineligible, the committee may reassign that scholarship to another eligible applicant. The committee also provides details on award amounts, recipient notification, and any follow-up requirements.
