Eligibility

Applicants must meet specific residency, enrollment, academic, and documentation requirements to be considered for GANE scholarships. Verification of residency and enrollment is required, and academic standing must meet the minimum GPA threshold. References and proof of progress in a nursing program are also required for non-RN applicants.

Eligibility: Applicants must be Georgia residents enrolled in a Georgia school, have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA (verified by transcript), provide proof of residency, submit two letters of reference, and demonstrate required program progression for non-RN students.

Priority Criteria

When multiple applicants meet basic eligibility, the committee gives priority to candidates who demonstrate professional engagement, appropriate program level, and a clear professional plan. Specific scholarships have program-level preferences that influence prioritization. A well-developed essay addressing goals, plans, and contributions to equity and access strengthens priority consideration.

Priority Criteria: Priority is given to professional organization members, graduate students for specific scholarships, ADN/BSN students for others, and applicants whose essays outline goals, a five-year plan, and contributions to nursing and health equity.

• Membership in a professional nursing organization is favored.
• Graduate students prioritized for the Spillman-Bischoff Scholarship.
• ADN or BSN students prioritized for Lucy Willard and Sarah Helen Killgore Scholarships.
• Essays should define goals, a five-year plan, and actions to address health inequities.

Application Timeline

Applications must be completed and received by the December due date to be considered. Incomplete submissions will not be evaluated, and applicants should ensure all documents are included. If attachments cannot be uploaded, applicants should submit those materials by email with the required subject line to ensure the application is complete.

Selection Process

Selection is based on compliance with the eligibility requirements and the Scholarship Committee’s assessment of applicants. The Scholarship Committee recommends recipients, and the Board of Directors confirms the selections. Award recipients will be announced and recognized during the 2027 GANE Conference.
