CTE Scholarships and Tuition Awards
Scholarship Sponsored by Utah State Board of Education
Overview
Description: The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Scholarships and Tuition Awards recognize outstanding CTE students in Utah. The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) sponsors the awards, which are funded by participating higher education institutions. Award amounts vary by institution and may cover up to one year of tuition at a Utah public college or university. Applicants can review participating institutions, award quantities, and award amounts online.
- Brigham Young University, the University of Utah, and Utah State University do not participate.
- Applicants should confirm that their intended CTE program is offered at their selected institution.
Eligibility Qualifications
Eligibility: Applicants must be lawfully present in the United States, be current Utah residents, and be high school seniors enrolled in a Utah public secondary school. They must be eligible to graduate from a Utah public secondary school before September 1, 2027. Applicants may accept other private scholarships, but some participating institutions do not allow students to combine their CTE award with another scholarship from the same institution.
- Confirm that the selected institution offers the intended CTE program; consult the Institution Criteria Frequently Asked Questions for details.
- Check the institution’s rules before accepting another scholarship from that institution.
Application Preparation
Documentation Requirements: Before starting the 2027 application, applicants should confirm that they meet all eligibility qualifications and have the required documents ready to upload. Applications must include the materials listed below. Transcripts that are unsigned, unhighlighted, or unreadable will result in an incomplete application and disqualification from consideration.
- Signed USBE Media Release Form in English or Spanish.
- Letter of recommendation from a CTE teacher, preferably one aligned with the applicant’s CTE pathway.
- Signed, unofficial transcript or transcripts, with all CTE courses highlighted.
- CTE career pathway information; courses currently in progress do not count toward pathway completion.
