Eligibility & Who May Apply

Eligibility centers on residency, graduation status, and PTA involvement. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors enrolled at a Texas campus with an active Local PTA/PTSA and be members of that PTA by the membership deadline. Applicants must plan to enroll full-time in the summer or fall/spring term immediately following graduation. Immediate family members of Texas PTA board members or staff are ineligible.

Eligibility: Must be a graduating high school senior from a Texas school and plan full-time postsecondary enrollment immediately after graduation.

Membership Requirement: Applicant’s campus PTA must have achieved active status and the applicant must be a PTA member by December 1.

Exclusions: Immediate family members of Texas PTA Board of Directors or staff are not eligible.

Application Deadline: Completed electronic application must be received by November 15.

Preparing Required Documents

Submit documents in .doc, .docx, or .pdf format; PDFs are preferred. The online application requires a one-page resume, a copy of the high school transcript (non-official accepted), and three written responses to specific prompts. Each response must meet the stated word-count requirements. Be prepared to provide contact information for your PTA President and school counselor.

Essay Prompts:

  • How has PTA been a positive influence on your K–12 experience? Provide specific examples of involvement or benefits experienced.
  • Prepare a one-page resume listing activities, awards, and work experience.
  • Include a copy of your high school transcript (official not required).
  • Draft three essays, each 150–300 words, addressing the provided prompts.

Application Process

The application process follows staged steps from document preparation through selection and disbursement. Applicants prepare required documents, complete the online application, and may be advanced through multiple review rounds. Finalists could be asked to provide additional information during selection. Results will be posted on the Texas PTA website by the announced date.

Stage 3: Applications reviewed in multiple rounds; finalists may be requested to provide supplemental information.

Award Disbursement & Timeline

Recipients are announced no later than April 1 and must claim their scholarship by July 15. Scholarships are disbursed directly to the institution of enrollment after submission of required disbursement documentation.
