Meg Graham Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Junior League of Washington
The Junior League of Washington (JLW) advances pathways to opportunity by expanding access to education, supporting professional and financial growth, and offering capacity-building resources across our community. As part of this work, we administer the annual Meg Graham Scholarship, a volunteer service award created in 1982 to honor the late Reverend Margaret M. Graham — a former JLW member and past President of the Association of Junior Leagues International. The scholarship, presented in her memory, carries a $10,000 award. JLW is proud to announce Courtney Howard as the recipient of the 2023–24 Meg Graham Scholarship: Celebrating Service and Leadership. Ms. Howard stood out to the interview panel for her sustained volunteerism, academic achievement, and meaningful contributions to the community. In addition, the Scholarship Committee is pleased to recognize this year’s Book Award honorees: Avajane Lei and Samiya Williams. Both young women have demonstrated strong commitments to community service and social justice. We invite you to join us in congratulating all finalists and award recipients. The applicant pool was outstanding, and we were honored to learn about the work these students are doing. JLW remains dedicated to training highly capable civic leaders who are committed to interrupting cycles of poverty and expanding opportunities for people in Washington, DC. We look forward to welcoming many of these applicants into our network of more than 2,300 trained volunteers as they complete their college studies.
