Curwen-Guidry-Blackburn Scholarship Fund
Scholarship Sponsored by Southern Bowling Congress
The Southern Bowling Congress is committed to encouraging the next generation of bowlers. To support their pursuit of higher education, the SBC established the Jacques Curwen/Jay Guidry/Bill Blackburn Scholarship Fund. The program awards a one-year $1,000 scholarship to attend the college of the recipient’s choice. To date, the SBC has awarded more than $106,000.00 in scholarships to deserving youth.
Eligibility
- This scholarship is open to any senior youth bowler (male or female) who resides in one of the SBC member states and meets the following criteria.

Scholarship Requirements
To be considered for an SBC scholarship you must satisfy all of the following:
1. Be a current participant in a USBC Certified Youth league and be a high school senior.
2. Have competed in a USBC Certified Youth league for at least three of your four high school years, and have bowled at least 75% of the league’s scheduled games.
3. Provide an official high school transcript showing a minimum of six semesters of coursework and include documentation of your ACT and/or SAT scores.
4. Submit a personal letter of recommendation from your high school principal, counselor, or a teacher.
5. Achieve a minimum ACT composite score of 20 or an SAT composite score of 1410.
6. Hold a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.50 on a 4.0 scale.
7. If selected for an SBC Scholarship, you must continue participation in your USBC Certified Youth league through the end of the season; failure to do so may result in rescission of the award.
8. Complete and return the application to the Executive Director of the Southern Bowling Congress by March 15 of the year for which you are applying to be considered.
9. All decisions regarding scholarships—including evaluation of submissions and final recipient selection—are at the sole discretion of the Southern Bowling Congress and are final.
