Dolphin Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Dolphin Scholarship Foundation
Eligibility
- Competitive grants are open to high school and college students who are the children or spouses of current or former members of the submarine force, or of those who have served in submarine support activities. In addition, certain SubForce‑administered scholarships are available to current and former members of the U.S. Submarine Force.
Program overview
- The Dolphin Scholarship Foundation currently supports 113 active scholarships. Each award provides an annual grant of either $2,600 or $4,000 per student and may be held for two to four years of full‑time undergraduate study. Students pursuing trade or vocational certification are also eligible for support. Roughly 25–35 new scholarships are granted each year.
Selection criteria
- Recipients are chosen primarily for academic achievement and demonstrated dedication and excellence in school and community involvement. While financial need is not a factor in initial selection decisions, it is reviewed after all other financial aid for an applicant has been determined.
History and impact
- Founded more than 60 years ago, the Dolphin Scholarship Foundation has awarded in excess of $14 million to over 1,500 deserving students attending colleges and universities across the United States.
