Pre-Veterinary Scholarships

Introduction
The NVMA Centennial Scholarship Foundation, Inc. is now accepting applications for its Pre‑Veterinary Scholarships. Applicants must be signed into the NVMA Member Portal to access and submit the online application. Eligibility
To be considered for a Pre‑Veterinary Scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Have finished at least 3 semesters of pre‑veterinary (pre‑professional) coursework and be actively pursuing completion of the pre‑professional program.
- Be a graduate of a Nebraska high school or a State of Nebraska–approved home school program.
- Hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Application requirements and how recipients are chosen
Applications are evaluated by the Scholarship Committee with attention to financial need, academic performance, and extracurricular involvement. To be considered, candidates must submit the following by the stated deadline:
- The completed online application (accessible through the NVMA Member Portal; you must be logged in).
- Three recommendation forms from:
1) A non‑related faculty member or academic advisor;
2) A veterinarian for whom the applicant has worked; and
3) A non‑related personal reference.
Share the recommendation form link (available in the portal) with each person you ask to provide a reference.
- An official transcript showing the applicant’s GPA (an uploaded copy may be submitted via the links provided in the portal).
Deadlines and notifications
- All application materials must be received by March 15 each year.
- Scholarship recipients will be notified in April.
Award amounts and disbursement
- Scholarships are typically awarded once per year.
- Each award will be at least $500.
- The number and size of grants depend on available funds and the Committee’s decisions.
- Scholarship checks will be made payable to both the student and the college the student is attending.
