Introduction
The Next Swell Scholarship was established to support outstanding students who are conducting research or earning a degree focused on marine science or marine conservation. Awards are merit-based and target applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to preserving and studying marine environments.
Award Details
- Multiple scholarships of $5,000 each will be offered for the 2025–2026 academic year.
- Recipients will be selected based on merit and demonstrated dedication to marine conservation.
Application Timeline
- Application period: January 15, 2025 – March 15, 2025 (EST).
- Scholarship decisions will be issued by May 1, 2025.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
1. Be a United States citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident.
2. Be enrolled in, or actively pursuing, a graduate degree program (Master’s or PhD).
- Applicants must provide proof of current enrollment (e.g., an academic transcript). If the applicant will begin their first graduate semester in Fall 2025, an official letter of acceptance is required.
3. Hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Use of Funds
Scholarship proceeds must be applied toward educational expenses required for enrollment at the recipient’s institution, including tuition, mandatory fees, and course-related textbooks and supplies.
