Overview
Scholarships and awards change each year and are awarded based on academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. Only students planning careers in the health care field should apply.
Eligibility
- Must be African American.
- Must be a graduating high school senior.
- Open to students residing anywhere in the United States.
- Must plan to attend a two- or four-year college, university, or technical school.
- Award funds must be used for educational expenses (tuition, books, fees, or other needs while enrolled).
How to apply
- All materials must be uploaded through the Foundation’s online application portal. Submissions sent by mail or email will not be reviewed.
- Prepare a single file named exactly: First Name Last Name - Mae and Mary Scholarship (saved as a Word document or PDF). Do not submit ZIP files.
Required documents (upload with your application file)
- Recent photo
- Cover letter and resume (creative formats welcome)
- One personal essay (applicant’s choice of topic; maximum one page)
- Two letters of recommendation
- Current transcripts (official or unofficial accepted)
- Copy of college acceptance letter, if available

- Brand representative: someone who will professionally represent the Foundation
- Strong, original essay writing and thoughtful expression
- Solid academic record appropriate to the applicant’s coursework
- Attention to detail: a well-organized, error-free application
- Healthy ambition and determination
- A desire to be a positive change-maker in their community
- Integrity and transparency of character
- Compelling endorsements in recommendation letters
- Gratitude toward donors and the opportunity provided

- Application deadline: March 31, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST. Applications received after this time will not be accepted.
- Winners announced: May 11, 2025
