Overview
Description: Parker & Sons, in partnership with Arizona Sports, sponsors the Character Counts Scholarship to recognize local high school students who demonstrate exemplary character and community involvement. The scholarship awards $10,000 to a single winner and highlights the importance of integrity and sportsmanship both on and off the field. Nominations are open to members of the community and the program culminates in a finalist announcement and an award ceremony.

Eligibility
Eligibility: Candidates must be local high school students between 14 and 18 years of age who consistently demonstrate exceptional character. Qualifying traits include strong sportsmanship, regular community involvement, and a commitment to giving back. Nominations may be submitted by teachers, coaches, parents, peers, or the students themselves.

Selection and Benefits
Award Value: From the nomination pool, a panel selects 10 finalists and one grand-prize winner who receives the $10,000 scholarship. Finalists receive public recognition through Arizona Sports Radio and ArizonaSports.com and have their stories featured on the Character Counts page. All finalists and their families are invited to attend the Character Counts Award Ceremony where the winner is announced.

Application
Submission: To nominate a student, visit the Parker & Sons Character Counts nominations page on Arizona Sports and complete the online form. The nomination should describe how the nominee exemplifies character, sportsmanship, and community dedication. Submissions are accepted online and must include the required supporting information as specified on the nomination form.

Important Dates
Application Timeline: Nominations are open now and must be submitted by the December deadline. Ten finalists will be announced following the nomination period, and all finalists will be honored at the Spring 2026 award ceremony when the $10,000 winner is revealed.
