Parker & Sons has partnered with Arizona Sports to present the Character Counts Scholarship, an award that recognizes local high school students who demonstrate outstanding character and meaningful community involvement. The scholarship underscores a commitment to character-driven achievement in youth athletics and civic life.

Eligibility
The scholarship is open to local high school students who meet specific age and character criteria. Eligible nominees are between 14 and 18 years old and must be enrolled in a local high school. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional character, good sportsmanship, and a record of community involvement.

Selection Process
Nominees are reviewed and a panel selects 10 finalists from the pool of submissions. Finalists receive media exposure through Arizona Sports Radio and ArizonaSports.com and have their stories featured on the Character Counts page. All finalists are invited to the Character Counts Award Ceremony, where the winner is announced. A judging panel from Parker & Sons and Arizona Sports determines the recipient.
Process: Nominations lead to a shortlist of 10 finalists who receive media recognition and attend an awards ceremony; a joint panel selects the winner.

How to Apply
Submitting a nomination is straightforward and open to teachers, coaches, parents, peers, or the student themselves. Nominators complete an online form and describe how the nominee exemplifies character, sportsmanship, and community dedication. Once the form is submitted, the nomination enters the selection process.

Important Dates
Nominations are open now and will be accepted through the program’s stated submission period. The 10 finalists will be announced prior to the award ceremony.
