Eligibility & Priorities
The Foundation supports full-time undergraduate and graduate students of Lithuanian heritage according to specified priority categories. Eligibility emphasizes citizenship or residency status, location of study, and degree level. Some exceptions exist for bachelor’s degree studies in Lithuania when aligned with donor-directed funds. Applicants should confirm they meet the priority criteria before applying.
Eligibility: Support is reserved for full-time students of Lithuanian heritage, with priority assigned as follows.
- US citizens and US permanent residents (green card holders) pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees.
- Students from Lithuania pursuing Master’s or Doctoral degrees in Lithuania.
- Students from Lithuania pursuing Master’s or Doctoral degrees in the US (with a student visa) or elsewhere abroad.
- By exception only: students from Lithuania seeking a Bachelor’s degree in Lithuania, subject to donor-directed fund designations.
- Full-time status and Lithuanian heritage are required
- Priority depends on citizenship/residency and study location
- Bachelor’s support in Lithuania is exceptional and fund-dependent
Selection Criteria
Candidates are evaluated on academic merit, leadership potential, volunteer engagement, and involvement in Lithuanian community activities. The selection process emphasizes demonstrated commitment to community and the potential to contribute meaningfully to Lithuanian cultural or academic life. Applicants should provide clear evidence of achievements and community service. Reviews follow the Foundation’s Grants Commission guidelines.

Donor-Directed Funds & Fields of Study

Applicants do not need to apply separately for these donor-directed funds; the Foundation will consider donor designations during award decisions. Special attention is given to applicants studying or researching Lithuanian linguistics, literature, folklore, and history.
