Northwest Danish Association Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Northwest Danish Association
Intro
Each year the Northwest Danish Association awards scholarships to young people who live in or attend school in Washington or Oregon. These awards — offered for more than 30 years — support studies in areas such as Danish language and literature, arts and crafts, history, political science, and other academic or vocational fields.
Purpose and objectives
Through its scholarship program the Association aims to:
- Preserve and promote educational and career opportunities that reflect traditions in both the United States and Denmark.
- Motivate students from Washington and Oregon to strive for their highest personal academic and professional achievements.
- Help students prepare for careers that may change over a lifetime by supporting flexible, long-term preparation.
- Value a wide spectrum of educational goals, from mastering foundational skills to gaining specialized knowledge and technique.
- Honor professions that contribute to personal well‑being, community life, and the arts or entertainment.
- Offer financial support to cover various costs connected to a chosen program of study.
Preference
When awarding scholarships, the Association gives preference to applicants who have volunteered with and demonstrated notable participation in Northwest Danish Association programs and activities.
