SIPES Foundation Earth Science Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists
Introduction
The SIPES Foundation was established as the charitable and educational arm of the Society when it was chartered in Texas in November 1981. In addition to providing yearly earth‑science scholarships, the Foundation organizes an educational seminar each year at the Society convention and maintains a video library containing recordings of technical presentations delivered at prior conventions.
Support and Donations
Contributions to the SIPES Foundation are always appreciated to sustain scholarship awards, seminars, and other educational initiatives. Donors may designate gifts in honor of or in memory of a family member, friend, or colleague. Every contribution receives written acknowledgment. The SIPES Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Scholarships and Eligibility
Each year the Foundation grants scholarships to upper‑division undergraduates and graduate students pursuing earth‑science fields. Since its founding in 1981, the Foundation has awarded more than half a million dollars to 291 outstanding students. Applicants must be U.S. citizens enrolled at a U.S.-based college or university and majoring in an earth science discipline, geophysics, petroleum engineering, or geological engineering. A minimum overall GPA of 3.0 is required. Application forms are posted online in January each year.
