Applicants must complete the DNA Recognition Program Application Form and provide required documentation. Demographic responses are collected separately; the award decision is based on essay quality and selected application responses. The selection panel reviews education, certifications, DNA membership duration, dermatology experience, professional associations, and volunteer activities as part of evaluation. Proof of admission to a certified school of nursing is required for consideration.

Eligibility: DNA members and nursing students pursuing certified nursing programs who meet the application and documentation requirements are eligible.

Applications must include a completed form and a separate, single-sided essay document meeting formatting rules. The essay must be 1,200 words or fewer, 12‑point font, and double-spaced; the essay must be attached as a separate single-sided page to the application. All application materials must be submitted as single-sided paper and postmarked on or before the October deadline to be considered for the following year’s scholarship term. Late or improperly formatted submissions risk disqualification.

Demographic questions are collected separately and are not used in award decisions. Responses to the designated application questions (3–6) will also be considered in the review process.

Applicants should document all degrees and diplomas, relevant nursing and dermatology certifications, years of active DNA membership, and dermatology experience. The form allows listing up to five recent professional association roles and up to three professional volunteer activities from the past three years. Complete and accurate responses to these items support the review of the applicant’s professional engagement and suitability for the scholarship.
