Introduction Begum Pelaez-Prada PLLC is proud to renew its commitment to increasing representation of women in the legal profession by offering The Begum Pelaez-Prada Future Women in Law Scholarship for 2025. As the legal field continues to evolve, amplifying diverse voices and removing barriers for young women pursuing law remains essential. Through a $1,000 award, the firm hopes to support an emerging female legal professional whose voice and experience demonstrate how targeted support can help create a more inclusive legal community. Who may apply - Open to female high school seniors, vocational students, undergraduate students, or graduate students who are legal residents of the United States residing in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia. Applicants must be enrolled in a vocational program or a two- to four-year post-secondary institution in 2026. - Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be in good academic standing. - Employees of Begum Pelaez-Prada PLLC, their immediate family members (parent, child, sibling, spouse), and anyone sharing a household with such employees (related or not) are ineligible. Application requirements To be considered, candidates must submit the following by the deadline: 1. A completed application form. 2. A 1,000-word essay responding to this prompt: Discuss the importance of fostering diversity and empowerment for young women pursuing careers in law. Include personal experiences, obstacles you've faced, and successes you've achieved, and explain how receiving this scholarship from Begum Pelaez-Prada PLLC would help shape a more inclusive legal landscape. - All essays will be screened for AI-generated content. Applications found to contain AI writing will be disqualified. 3. A professional résumé outlining academic and professional experience. 4. An academic transcript from your current school. First-year college students, graduate students, or recent transfers may submit an unofficial transcript from their current institution along with the most recent official transcript from their previous school. High school applicants may provide proof of acceptance to a college or university. Preference Preference will be given to students who are from, or attending secondary school in, the firm’s home state. Award, timing, and notification One recipient will be selected based on the essay that best addresses the prompt and demonstrates alignment with the scholarship’s goals. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the chosen candidate. The recipient will be selected during the month following the scholarship deadline.
