Overview
This program provides tuition and required fees support for members of the Kansas Air and Army National Guard attending Kansas postsecondary institutions. Awards fully cover tuition and mandatory fees at Kansas public institutions; for independent (private) institutions, awards are capped at the public institution rate. Participation is open to students enrolled full-time or part-time in certificate, diploma, or degree programs, and dependents of Guard members may also be considered. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and must not already hold a bachelor’s degree.
Description: The Kansas National Guard Educational Assistance program reimburses or pays tuition and fees for eligible Guard members and qualified dependents enrolled at eligible Kansas institutions, subject to program caps and legislative funding.

Program Description
The program covers tuition and required fees for eligible students at Kansas public institutions, with equivalent caps applied to independent institutions. Members must be current, enlisted Kansas National Guard personnel in good standing and maintain satisfactory academic progress. Applicants must have FAFSA on file at their institution and apply for Federal Tuition Assistance if applicable; academic transcripts must be submitted to the National Guard Education Services office each semester. Failure to meet service obligations or program requirements can result in repayment of received funds.
Eligibility: Be a current Kansas Air/Army National Guard member in good standing; possess a high school diploma or GED; enroll in a Kansas postsecondary institution and maintain at least a 2.0 GPA; not already possess a bachelor’s degree; have FAFSA filed at the institution; apply for Federal Tuition Assistance when applicable; submit end-of-semester transcripts to the National Guard Education Services office ([email protected]).
Obligations: Recipients must complete and submit the State of Kansas Student Aid Application by each semester’s deadline, remain in good standing at their institution, and make satisfactory academic progress. Service obligation: upon completion of the last semester covered by assistance, members must serve an additional 24 months in the Kansas National Guard or repay the scholarship amount received.

Award Amount
Award amounts vary and are determined by legislative appropriations, the type of institution attended, and any federal tuition assistance the student receives. For Kansas public institutions the program covers tuition and required fees; for independent institutions awards are limited to the public institution rate. If a recipient fails to satisfy the program’s service obligation, they are responsible for repaying the Kansas Board of Regents the scholarship amount received.
