Eligibility
Applicants must meet academic, residency, and citizenship requirements to qualify. The Foundation typically considers high school seniors (and qualifying renewing students) who are bona fide residents of Las Animas County and who plan to enroll full time at an accredited four-year institution in the U.S. Applicants must meet minimum GPA and standardized test score requirements; PSAT results are not used. Certain family members of Foundation directors are excluded from eligibility.
Eligibility: Applicants must satisfy all of the following criteria:
- High school senior (renewing students may be considered under renewal rules)
- Bona fide, legal, and actual resident of Las Animas County, Colorado
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Plan to enroll full time at a fully accredited four-year college or university in the United States (Princeton University is excluded; trade schools and two-year colleges are not eligible)
- Unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher for the first three years of high school (4.0 scale or equivalent)
- Qualifying combined SAT (Evidence-Based Reading and Writing + Math) or composite ACT score corresponding to the applicant’s unweighted GPA as specified by the Foundation’s eligibility table
- PSAT scores are not used to determine eligibility
Preference and exclusions: The Foundation does not give preference based on college choice, high school, or financial need and encourages applications regardless of gender, creed, ethnic origin, race, or sexual orientation. Family members as defined in Internal Revenue Code Section 4946 of Foundation directors are ineligible.
- Residency in Las Animas County is required; high school location alone is not sufficient
- Minimum GPA and qualifying SAT/ACT scores are mandatory
- PSAT scores do not affect eligibility
- No preference for financial need or college choice; certain family members are excluded
