Dr. John Halligan Scholarship

INTRODUCTION / BIO
Dr. John Halligan is a 1985 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and earned his MD from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He completed a Radiation Oncology residency at the University of Washington and then served as a Radiation Oncologist in the U.S. Army, retiring with the rank of Colonel in 2008. Upon leaving the military, Dr. Halligan moved to Alaska to become Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at Providence Alaska Medical Center. He has since broadened access to advanced cancer treatment across the state by establishing Radiation Oncology clinics in Soldotna, Juneau, and the Matanuska-Susitna (MatSu) Valley so more Alaskans can receive care nearer their homes.
ELIGIBILITY
- Must be a graduate of, or currently in the senior year at, an Alaska high school.
- Must be enrolled or planning to enroll full-time in an undergraduate program in the health sciences at a University of Alaska campus.

- Two letters of recommendation
- Proof of application to, or acceptance by, a post-secondary institution
