Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia
Introduction Since 1988, the Community Foundation has focused its work in Roanoke, Salem and Martinsville, and in the counties of Roanoke, Botetourt, Craig, Franklin, Henry, Patrick and Alleghany. Our region is blessed with many generous people who care about this community, and we are proud to work alongside them. Who may apply Graduating high school seniors, current college students and non-traditional students who plan to attend a college or university are eligible to apply. Individual scholarships have their own eligibility criteria, so please review each scholarship listing for specific requirements. How the online system works The scholarship portal will match you to appropriate funds based on the responses you provide. The application is a multi-step process: the first portion is the initial application that makes you eligible to apply to more than 80 scholarship opportunities. Do I only complete one application for every scholarship I qualify for? No—submitting the initial application is the first step. For many scholarships, that initial submission is sufficient and you will see a status of "submitted" next to those opportunities. For other scholarships you’ll still need to provide additional materials (you’ll see a status of "draft"). These supplemental requirements may include extra questions, an uploaded essay, or third-party requests for recommendation letters. Open each opportunity to see what’s required, and after you provide the requested items, click “submit application” for that specific scholarship. If I receive an award, do I get the check? Typically scholarship payments are sent directly to your college or university in your name, around June 30th.
