Introductory summary
Our flagship award offers $2,000 to academically strong, low-income high school seniors who will be beginning their first year of postsecondary study. Recipients embody the Price Legacy’s mission to advance educational opportunity across underserved communities.
Who is eligible
- Current high school senior.
- United States citizen, lawful permanent resident, or DACA recipient.
- Intending to enroll for the first time at a U.S. college or university in Fall 2025.
- Demonstrates notable academic performance (for example, an unweighted GPA of 3.75 or higher).
- Comes from an economically disadvantaged household.
Application materials and instructions
Submit the following items as part of your application. Where indicated, documents must be uploaded as PDFs.
1) Personal information
Before you apply, verify that your contact and personal details are current. If any information changes after submission, email us immediately with the subject line: [Full Name] "Personal Information Update" and include the updated details in the message.
2) Academic record (transcript)
Provide a PDF of your most recent official or unofficial transcript showing grades through your last completed semester. The transcript must list courses taken, the term/semester for each course, grades earned, and an overall GPA that reflects all completed semesters. We may also request additional academic context such as AP/IB/AICE coursework, whether your GPA is weighted or unweighted, and a summary of extracurricular involvement.
3) Proof of financial need (Student Aid Report)
Upload a PDF of your Student Aid Report (SAR) from Federal Student Aid (FSA). You can obtain the SAR only after filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). (Follow FSA’s instructions to download your SAR from your FAFSA account.)
4) Creative statement
Compose an original creative statement of up to 750 words. Save and submit this as a single-page PDF for review by the selection panel.
5) Brief advocacy statement
Write a short advocacy note—no more than four sentences—explaining what being a Price Legacy Scholar would mean to you. You might address questions like: Why should we choose you? How would you use this award? What sets you apart as an applicant?
