The Robert H. Abzug Scholarship in Jewish Studies

The Robert H. Abzug Scholarship provides targeted support for undergraduate students at UT Austin who are pursuing a thesis, research project, or artistic endeavor related to Jewish Studies. The award is intended to enable focused scholarship or creative work that contributes to the student’s academic or professional development. Applicants should demonstrate a clear connection between their proposed project and Jewish Studies. The scholarship is administered through the Schusterman Center and follows the center’s application and submission procedures.

Purpose: To provide scholarship support for undergraduate students at UT Austin pursuing a thesis, research project, or artistic endeavor on any topic in Jewish Studies.

Eligibility

Undergraduate students enrolled at UT Austin are eligible to apply for the Robert H. Abzug Scholarship when their proposed work centers on Jewish Studies. Eligible applicants may submit one application per year, and recipients may hold the scholarship in consecutive years if selected again. Projects may be scholarly theses, independent research, or artistic endeavors with a clear Jewish Studies focus. Applicants should ensure their faculty sponsor is willing to provide oversight and a recommendation.

Eligibility: Any undergraduate student at UT Austin pursuing a thesis, research project, or artistic endeavor on any topic in Jewish Studies. Eligible students may apply once per year and may hold the scholarship in consecutive years.

• Recipients may be funded in consecutive years

Application Requirements and Submission

Applications must include a set of specified documents that demonstrate the applicant’s qualifications and the scope of the proposed project. Required materials include a completed application form, resume, transcript, a 350–500 word essay describing the project and its relation to Jewish Studies, and a faculty letter of recommendation from the project supervisor. Items 1–4 should be emailed to [email protected] by the applicant; the faculty letter must be emailed directly by the recommender. Follow the Schusterman Center’s instructions for file formats and deadlines when preparing materials.

• A letter of recommendation from a UT faculty member overseeing the project; the faculty member should email the letter directly to [email protected]
