Terry Kuseske LGBTQIA+ Youth Scholarship — overview
- The Terry Kuseske LGBTQIA+ Youth Scholarship is awarded each year to a student from Southwest Michigan who has demonstrated leadership on matters affecting LGBTQIA+ people.
Award details
- Each year up to two recipients are chosen to receive this $1,000 scholarship. Recipients are invited to be recognized at OutFront Kalamazoo’s Winter Gala Awards Ceremony, where they will be honored alongside other individuals and groups acknowledged for significant contributions to OutFront Kalamazoo and the LGBTQIA+ community.
Who is eligible
Applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be a senior in high school at a public or private school located in Southwest Michigan.
- Intend to enroll in a public or private college or university in Michigan for the fall semester immediately following high school graduation.
- Have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Show an active commitment to serving the LGBTQIA+ community.
What to submit
To be considered, applicants must provide:
- A completed scholarship application form.
- A short essay (follow the essay instructions provided on the application).
- At least one letter of recommendation from a qualified individual—such as a teacher, advisor, supervisor, or volunteer director—who has direct, first-hand knowledge of the applicant.
