Kappa Scholarship

Introduction
The Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund, Inc.® (KSEF) is working to expand support for graduates of Washington, DC public and public charter high schools who are pursuing higher education. KSEF has set a target of growing the endowment to $8 million so it can award larger scholarships to a greater number of students. Applications are distributed to counselors and principals at qualifying schools and organizations each January.

KSEF fulfills its commitment to the Washington, DC community by:
- Raising and deploying resources to award scholarships to talented students pursuing a quality college education
- Helping young people gain the skills and knowledge needed to compete in a rapidly evolving technological landscape
- Improving community well‑being through the development of tomorrow’s leaders
Scholarship program overview
The Board of Directors determines the number and dollar amounts of scholarships. Awards are made annually and recipients are selected according to the criteria below.
Eligibility requirements
To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a graduating senior from a Washington, DC public high school or a DC public charter high school
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5
- Demonstrate financial need
- Be active in school and community activities
- Be accepted to and enrolled full‑time at an accredited four‑year institution of higher learning
Application distribution
Applications are made available to school counselors and principals in January of each year.
