Introduction
The IGCA offers several scholarships to recognize high school athletes. Below is a summary of each award, its purpose, funding source, and any special conditions or eligibility notes.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be seniors who have participated in high school sports unless otherwise specified by an individual scholarship.
- A female athlete may submit applications for the IGCA scholarships, the Mark Tiby Scholarship, and the Bob Mullen/Dean Roe Scholarships, but a single applicant may receive only one of those awards.
Scholarship descriptions
1) General IGCA Scholarship(s)
- Awarded to a graduating senior who has been active in high school athletics.
- The total number of scholarships and the dollar amounts are decided annually and may change from year to year.
2) Mark Tiby Scholarship
- A named scholarship available to female athletes.
- Applicants may apply for this award as well as the IGCA scholarships and the Roe/Mullen scholarships, but recipients will be limited to one of those awards.
3) Bob Mullen / Dean Roe Scholarships
- Two scholarships of $500 each, designated for girls’ basketball players.
- These awards are financed through a family donation in memory/support of Bob Mullen and Dean Roe.
4) Larry Niemeyer Scholarship
- A $500 scholarship for a girls’ basketball player who fulfills the listed criteria and submits the required application.
- This award is supported and promoted by the IGCA for a limited number of years and is funded by the Niemeyer family.
5) Gene Klinge Scholarship
- A $500 scholarship awarded to a girls’ basketball player who meets the stated eligibility requirements.
- This scholarship is provided through a family donation from the Klinge family.
