Westlake Village Community Foundation Scholarship

Westlake Village Community Foundation provides a general scholarship award of up to $3,500 for graduating high school seniors who are residents of the City of Westlake Village and who meet at least one of the following conditions:
- participation in Music, Art, or Performing Arts programs either at their high school or within the community;
- active contribution to the community through volunteer service; or
- intent to pursue a career outside the traditional four-year college route, including enrollment in a trade or technical school.
Eligibility
- Applicant must be a graduating high school senior and a resident of the City of Westlake Village.
- The student must plan to enroll in the coming academic year at a four-year university, community college, arts college, or a trade/technical school.
- The scholarship is intended to offset costs associated with the student’s post‑secondary education.
Selection criteria
Awards will be decided on the basis of demonstrated excellence in Music, Art, or Performing Arts at the high school or community level; significant volunteer or community service; and/or a persuasive explanation of the student’s intention to follow a non‑traditional college path (for example, attending a trade or technical program). Evaluators will consider:
- length of involvement and level of achievement in arts programs;
- extent and impact of volunteer/community service;
- participation in career technical education courses at the local high school or in outside programs;
- academic record and school involvement;
- the quality of the applicant’s written statement and performance at interview; and
- financial need.
Application review and interviews
Members of the Foundation will screen applications and conduct interviews with candidates before making final selections. Interviews will be held in early April. When your application is received, the confirmation-of-receipt email will list the interview dates so you can reserve the appropriate time.
