Qualification Requirements:
- Applicants must provide evidence of financial need
- Enrollment in a USCG license program at one of the five State Maritime Academies (California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, or Texas) is mandatory; non-license programs are not accepted.
- Applicants are expected to show a strong personal commitment and ambition to excel not only in their studies but also in other areas such as sports, community involvement, employment, clubs, or other activities.
- While academic performance is valued, the ideal candidates should also exhibit superior interpersonal abilities and emotional intelligence.
- The Blue Water Scholarship Fund may conduct additional interviews, either in person or via phone, to assess the suitability of the applicant.
- Proof of US citizenship is required from all applicants
Nevertheless, the Blue Water Scholarship Fund retains the right to overlook any of these requirements at their sole discretion, particularly in the face of extenuating circumstances.
Scholarships are granted on a one-time basis, with the possibility of renewal in subsequent years, contingent upon the applicant's academic and personal accomplishments since their last application.
Receipt of a previous BWSF award does not guarantee future awards. All scholarships are granted at the sole discretion of the Blue Water Scholarship Fund, with no assurance of an award to any applicant, either stated or implied.
