Mary Barker APRN Scholarship

INTRODUCTION
This scholarship is intended for nurses advancing their education toward an advanced practice role. Eligible applicants are those currently enrolled in graduate-level APRN training or licensed APRNs pursuing further advanced degrees.
ELIGIBILITY
- Applicant must be working toward an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) credential in one of these four roles: Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), or Nurse Practitioner (NP).
- Current APRNs who are seeking an advanced degree are also eligible.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Hold a valid Wisconsin Registered Nurse license.
- Maintain membership in the Wisconsin Nurses Association (WNA).
- Provide proof of enrollment in one of the following at an NLN- or CCNE-accredited school of nursing: master’s in nursing program, post-master’s certificate program, PhD program, or DNP program.
- Be enrolled for the academic year following the date of application.
- Demonstrate the potential to contribute to professional nursing practice in Wisconsin.
- Show evidence of financial need.
AWARD
Each year as many as four scholarships may be granted, with individual awards up to $2,000. Funding for this scholarship comes from donations to the WNA NP Forum and other fundraising activities.
APPLICATION PROCESS
- Completed applications will be accepted through March 2, 2026.
- The NP Forum Board reviews applications and selects recipients. Awards are announced and presented at the Annual Pharmacology & Clinical Update.
- The NFW will be informed of the applicants chosen.
- Both the NP Forum and the NFW President will notify all applicants of the decision.
