McLaughlin Doty Foundation Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by McLaughlin Doty Foundation
Overview
The McLaughlin Doty Foundation created this scholarship in 2011 to help students with demonstrated financial need pursue postsecondary education. Awards may be as much as $7,500 per academic year and can be renewed for up to four years, for a potential total of $30,000. Typically the application window opens in December and completed submissions must be received by March. The final award amount will be determined based on each applicant’s financial needs and the specific degree or program they plan to attend.
Who is eligible
To qualify, applicants must be high school seniors graduating from one of these schools: Tivy High School, Ingram Tom Moore High School, Center Point High School, Harper High School, Hill Country High School, or Our Lady of the Hills High School. Seniors who live in Kerr County and are completing an accredited homeschool program are also eligible to apply.
How the award works
Applicants complete a single application as a high school senior; recipients may receive renewals throughout their undergraduate studies without submitting a new application each year, provided they continue to meet the Foundation’s requirements. The scholarship supports attendance at accredited, full‑time programs — including colleges, universities, community colleges, technical or trade schools, and conservatories or schools for the arts.
Recipient responsibilities
Scholarship recipients are expected to:
- Enroll full time in an accredited undergraduate program.
- Maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.
- Be a positive contributor to their school and community.
- Hold at least part‑time employment while receiving the award.
- Provide the Foundation with progress reports twice each year.
Timing and award determination
Applications generally open in December and must be completed and submitted by March. Award amounts vary by the applicant’s demonstrated financial need and the nature of the chosen program of study.
