Overview
This scholarship honors the memory of Freddie Hawkins, who dedicated his life to serving young people through his summer camping work and volunteer efforts with youth across the Hill Country. It is intended to support students from Kerr County.
Who may apply
Applicants must be graduating seniors from a Kerr County high school: Center Point High School, Ingram High School, Our Lady of the Hills High School, Tivy High School, or Hill Country High School. Candidates need a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Two letters of recommendation from individuals who are not family members must accompany the application. Applicants should demonstrate strong character, integrity, responsibility, and leadership.
Award details and recipient obligations
The scholarship is distributed over a two-year period. To continue receiving funds, the recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA during the award term.
How recipients are chosen
Final selection will consider academic record, involvement in extracurricular activities, community service, and demonstrated financial need. Before an award can be confirmed, the student must provide proof of full-time acceptance to an accredited college, university, or trade school. If the student has not been accepted by December 31 of the award year, the scholarship will be forfeited.
