2 Plus 2 Honor Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Montana University System
Overview
The 2 + 2 Honor Scholarship is an annual tuition waiver for students who earn an associate degree from a two-year campus within the Montana University System or from a Montana community college. It covers undergraduate tuition at any eligible MUS four-year campus and may be used for up to four consecutive semesters (only fall and spring semesters).
What the award covers and limits
- The scholarship waives undergraduate tuition only; it does not pay mandatory campus fees or course-specific fees. Students should consult their receiving campus for a list of fees not included.
- This waiver cannot be combined with any other MUS tuition waiver.
- The award must be used for four continuous fall/spring semesters at most; summer semesters do not count toward starting or extending the scholarship.
Transferability and continued eligibility
The scholarship can move between eligible MUS campuses if the recipient:
- Maintains at least a 3.4 cumulative GPA at their home (two-year) campus at the end of each academic year; and
- Shows continued progress toward a bachelor’s degree by completing at least 30 credit hours per academic year.
Student eligibility — who may apply
To qualify for the 2 + 2 Honor Scholarship, a student must:
- Apply in June of the calendar year immediately following the semester in which they earned their associate degree. (Example: a student who graduates in Summer 2025, Fall 2025, or Spring 2026 must submit an application by June 2026.);
- Hold an associate degree from an eligible two-year MUS campus or a Montana community college and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4;
- Have been enrolled and attending the eligible two-year campus for at least two semesters prior to graduation;
- Be accepted to, or enrolled at, an eligible MUS four-year campus;
- Begin using the scholarship in the next consecutive semester after finishing the associate degree (summer semesters do not qualify as the start semester); and
- Be a Montana resident.
If you have questions about covered fees, campus eligibility, or the application deadline, contact the financial aid office at your receiving four-year campus or the two-year campus where you earned your associate degree.
