Overview
This scholarship is awarded once per year to students who identify as American Indian and demonstrate financial need. It is open to students of any age, from any tribe and any U.S. state, provided they meet the academic and documentation requirements. The program supports vocational training, undergraduate, and graduate studies, with a preference for undergraduate applicants. Applicants must meet a minimum GPA requirement and submit required documentation by the stated deadline.

Eligibility & Documentation
Eligible applicants must be American Indian and provide a tribal card recognized at the state and/or federal level as proof of identity. Applicants must meet a minimum GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent used by their institution. Required application materials include academic transcripts and a resume (limited to one page). Recommendations are required; applicants must secure the specified number before the deadline.

Disqualifications to Avoid
Applications can be disqualified for a variety of avoidable errors. Do not submit inappropriate or incomplete materials, and ensure the student’s level of education matches the scholarship’s intended recipients. Photographs must be removed or covered on any uploaded document. Follow the instructions precisely to avoid disqualification.
Disqualifications: Common reasons for rejection include submitting incorrect documents, incomplete transcripts, or missing recommendations; failing to follow photo and documentation rules; and applying with an inappropriate education level.

- Do not upload documents that show the applicant’s photograph (cover photos on passports, tribal cards, transcripts, etc.)
- Do not submit proof of U.S. citizenship beyond what is requested
- Do not submit more than a one-page resume or incomplete transcripts
- Confirm that 2–4 recommendations have been submitted before the deadline
Application Timeline
The scholarship opens and awards once annually. All application materials and recommendations must be submitted by the January deadline at 11:59 pm Hawaii Time; no exceptions are made for late submissions. Applicants are advised to request recommendations and gather documents well before the deadline to avoid last-minute issues. Missing or late materials will result in disqualification.
