Introduction This scholarship opportunity is intended for Idaho students who meet the eligibility below and can supply the materials listed. Finalists will be invited to an interview with the scholarship committee.

Who is eligible

  • Graduating high school seniors who live in one of these counties: Ada, Adams, Boise, Canyon, Elmore, Gem, Payette, Valley, or Washington; OR graduating seniors from the communities of Marsing, Homedale, Bruneau, or Riggins.
  • OR current college students at the freshman or sophomore level enrolled at the University of Idaho or Boise State University.
  • Preference will be given to students who are attending, or plan to attend, the University of Idaho or Boise State University.
  • Must be an Idaho resident.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
  • There is no requirement to demonstrate financial need.

Required application materials Please include all of the following with your application:

  1. Official transcript: a copy of your most recent official high school or college transcript. Non-traditional applicants who have not recently attended school should submit their last school transcripts plus a summary of employment history.
  2. Personal statement (1–3 pages): a written statement addressing all of the following:
    • Your educational and career goals and objectives.
    • Extracurricular activities, volunteer work, awards, honors, and any offices held.
    • Work experience and whether you intend to work while in college.
    • Reasons you believe you should receive this scholarship.
  3. Creative writing sample (300–400 words): choose ONE prompt from the list below and submit a 300–400 word short story, news-style article, or opinion piece. Be original and creative.
    • What keeps you awake at night and why?
    • Which generalizations about Generation Z are accurate for you, and which are not?
    • Describe something in life or the world that is wonderful and often overlooked.
    • Tell a funny story.
    • Describe a place you have traveled to: what it meant to you, what you learned, and why it was significant.
  4. Interview: finalists will be contacted to schedule an interview with the scholarship committee.

How to apply — instructions and deadline

  • Complete the application form and attach all required materials listed above.
  • Merge every document into a single PDF file (Google Docs links or separate files will not be accepted).
  • Email the consolidated PDF to [email protected] by 11:59 p.m. MST on March 15th. Applications received after that time or missing required items will not be reviewed.
