Introduction
The Chickasaw Nation provides financial support to Chickasaw students pursuing higher education. Below is a summary of the grants, scholarships, and programs for which you may qualify. Read each description and mark the boxes beside the funding sources you want to be considered for. You may apply for every program for which you meet the eligibility criteria. Once you submit this checklist, the accompanying application, and all required documentation, your materials will be evaluated for funding.
Important eligibility and submission information
- All Chickasaw Nation grants, programs, and scholarships are restricted to Chickasaw citizens. Applicants must present a Chickasaw Nation citizenship card or official Chickasaw citizenship confirmation; applications without proof of citizenship will not be considered.
- Faxed applications or documents are no longer accepted. You may apply online and upload supporting files.
- All application materials and documentation must be received (postmarked U.S. mail, emailed, or delivered in person) to the Department of Education office by close of business on the applicable deadline:
- Fall semester: September 15th
- Spring semester: February 15th
- Summer semester: July 1st
- For students on a quarter system, the deadline is one month after the term’s start date.
- Full-time Chickasaw Nation employees (excluding participants in Chickasaw Employment Access) should submit Form 10629E to apply for grants and programs.
Eligibility
- Must be a Chickasaw citizen.
Documents you must provide
- Final high school transcript (required for incoming freshmen)
- Unofficial college transcript showing prior semester grades and credit hours
- Current course schedule indicating enrolled credit hours/units
Available funding options and requirements
Higher Education Grant
- Minimum enrollment: 3 credit hours per semester
- Minimum GPA: 2.0
Free Assistance Grant
- Minimum enrollment: 3 credit hours per semester
- Minimum GPA: 2.0
General Scholarship Program
- Minimum enrollment: 3 credit hours per semester
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
- Ineligible: full-time Chickasaw Nation employees
Textbook Grant — Reimbursement
- Minimum enrollment: 3 credit hours per semester
- Minimum GPA: 2.0
- Award amounts:
- Part-time (undergraduate, master’s, or doctorate): $250 per semester
- Full-time (undergraduate, master’s, or doctorate): $500 per semester
- Receipt submission deadlines:
- Fall semester: October 15th
- Spring semester: March 15th
- Summer semester: July 1st
Textbook Grant — Prepaid Gift Card
- Minimum enrollment: 3 credit hours per semester
- Minimum GPA: 2.0
- Award amounts:
- Part-time (undergraduate, master’s, or doctorate): $250 per semester
- Full-time (undergraduate, master’s, or doctorate): $500 per semester
- Current award receipts must be submitted by the next semester’s deadline
- Note: Funds loaded on the prepaid VISA gift card must be spent within six months of the card’s load date (see the student handbook for details).
Chikasha Holitoplichi — Graduation Stole Program
- Must complete an associate degree or higher at an accredited institution
- One award allowed per student for each degree earned
