Idaho Opportunity Scholarships

Overview
Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter and the Idaho Legislature created the Opportunity Scholarship to reduce obstacles to postsecondary education and to help ensure graduates are ready to join the workforce.
Award details
The Opportunity Scholarship provides eligible students up to $3,500 each academic year and may be renewed for up to four years. Awards are issued on a per‑academic‑year basis. Recipients must renew annually by March 1 and may receive the scholarship for no more than four years in total.
Eligibility
Applicants must satisfy every item below to qualify:
- Hold an unweighted cumulative GPA of at least 2.7
- Be a resident of Idaho
- Have graduated (or be on track to graduate) from an Idaho high school, Idaho home school, or have an Idaho GED/HSE
- Submit the State Board of Education scholarship application by March 1
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress as required for financial aid (see program rules for specifics)
- Be enrolled at one of the eligible Idaho institutions listed below
